Message from Carla

Below is an email from Carla and this is an example of the typical work we do with the Blanket Ministry.

Hey ladies, we had a great time last week remembering Jane and some of the funny things she has done, we remembered her and all her work in all the missions that she has been a part of, we laughed and we cried.  We talked about the machine whisperer and how she was the only one that could get some of the machines to sew.  We will miss her so much, but continue our work in honor of her and Jackie!
A lot of you might not know this but the blanket ministry is supplying blankets for stillborn babies at NSH Forsyth NICU and Grady hosptial, they are also draped over the incubators in the NICU, they are small white fleece blankets, a special shout out to all who have sewed on them, Sandy T. for delivering them and Deborah C. for cutting and Karen K. for the beautiful embroidering..they have an angel on them.  The hospital is begging for more and have asked us if possible to make some pink and blue ones.  We have a lot of white fleece to use up, but we have offered to sew around them in blue and pink until we run out.  I love that parents who are going through such trauma are comforted by these blankets!
Also, we are delivering 100 blankets to one of the UMW groups to give out to a women's shelter with hats (Sandy made the hats), scarves and gloves, we did this last year as well!  Pam S. is picking them up.  We will need to replace the shelves because a lot of blankets went out, so hope to see you there on Tuesday evening.  We will need to start cutting the blankets for the shelter downtown soon, winter will be here before we know it.

Isn't that a blessing!

Here is a sample of the blankets we are making for the NICU unit at Northside. These blankets go to the families of still-born babies. This has been a growing ministry for us and is very important to me. One of our members who lost a baby does the embroidery on these blankets.
