Tuesday night I was moved by the sounds coming from each room at the Vaughn House. Surely the presence of the Lord was in that place.
Jackie was smiling down on us and she and God were happy with our work.
I wanted to say something to remember Jackie during the prayer time but knew that I would not be able to control my emotions.
After sewing a couple of blankets, I decided that what we needed most was more pieces of fleece to be cut. There were three or four people working at the table in the front room and there wasn't enough room for any more cutters there, so I decided to set up another station. I found a cutting mat and a rotary cutter and set up a cutting area in the back room. As I worked away at my task I couldn't help but think back to how this ministry started. With Jackie, at first, aimlessly buying fleece and then having an experience of hearing God speak to her and tell her that he wanted her to buy fleece to make confort blankets.
In the beginning Jackie would tell me how much of what to cut and I would cut it and she would serge it. After we had a few made I would print out some labels and she would attach them to the blankets. It was truly a cottage style production.
After the Agape group decided to take on the ministry as a project we were given the use of the Trailer. Jackie and I spent many hours shopping, stocking, organizing and making blankets.
Tuesday night I was right back in the Trailer with Jackie.
What I noticed in my "moment" was the fun and fellowship (the JOY) that was taking place in each room. There were conversations and laughter coming from every direction. That is when I knew that Jackie would be happy seeing what was happening.
You notice that I use the word JOY. Many of you don't know or many not remember, but after we had grandchildren Jackie became Joy-Mama, not grandma and that name got shortened to JOY. So every time I hear laughter or see the word JOY I think about Jackie. Christmas is a JOYous occasion.
I know that many of you know the back story on the Blanket Ministry but some of you don't and I wanted to let you know.
The Vaughn House was truly filed will JOY on Tuesday night and usually is. I just happend to notice.
